  Professor Deng Xiangzheng is appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of Frontiers of Development Geography

Professor Deng Xiangzheng is appointed as the editor-in-chief of SFP's journal Frontiers of Development Geography (ISSN: 2709-720X) and Journal of Development Geography (2708-7670). At present, Deng Xiangzheng is a professor (second-level) of the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, a doctoral supervisor, the director of the Agricultural Policy Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Distinguished Professor (core backbone) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Distinguished Professor of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and is the National Outstanding Youth Fund recipient, Young Scholar of the Changjiang Scholars Program of the Ministry of Education. He was the person in charge of the first batch of national key R&D projects, presided over more than 30 projects and topics such as the major research projects of the National Fund Committee, the National Science and Technology Support Plan, the National 973 Plan, and the National Public Welfare Industry Research Project. Based on a multidisciplinary educational background (respectively obtained environmental economics doctorate degrees in GIS from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Waikato, New Zealand) and academic training, he has long been engaged in research on natural resource management, environmental geography and management, agricultural policy and decision-making, etc. and teaching. In recent years, he has mainly focused on the theory and empirical research of land use competition and optimization, and put forward innovative methods of land use competition and optimization management. He deduced the competition curve within cultivated land and between it and construction land, forest/grassland, gave the equilibrium solution of land use type conversion, revealed the change of agricultural land use, and proposed dynamic indicators to measure the temporal and spatial differentiation of land quality. A large number of empirical studies on assisted decision-making have been carried out. Main academic part-time jobs include a member of the Urban KAN Scientific Committee of the Future Earth Project, a member of the National Natural Science Foundation of China International Organization Cooperation Advisory Expert Group, a member of the National Standardization Professional Committee - Land Resources Information Technology Committee, and a deputy director of the Energy Economics and Management Research Branch of the China Double Law Society, Director of China Society of Land Economics, Leader of Industrial Policy and Development Geography Working Group of China Geographic Society, Director of Resource Flow and Management Professional Committee of China Natural Resources Society, Vice Chairman of China Urban and Rural Development Think Tank Alliance, etc. Currently, he is an associate editor of Resources, Conservation & Recycling, an editor of Regional Environmental Change, and an editorial board member of Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Land Use Science, Journal of Geographical Science, Land, Journal of Grass Industry, Journal of Agriculture and Forestry Economics and Management.
